Dear Friend,

We are proud to be co-chairing the 2026 Bushwick Starr Gala. The Bushwick Starr is an Obie award-winning theater that provides a home for artists, community and bold new work. Their mission is to cultivate a loving environment where artists can make career-defining leaps, learners can explore their interests through the art of performance, and audiences can be part of an experience that ignites new ideas and forges human connection.

The Starr recognizes the need for equitable access to the arts, platforms for new voices, and arts education that reflects the lived experiences of our community. Our programming responds directly to these needs: we offer free and low-cost performances; robust education programs including Big Green Theater; and Senior Storytelling that provides vital resources for an under-resourced demographic.

The Starr also fosters deep relationships with local schools, organizations, and community leaders to ensure our work reflects and supports the people around us.. Through consistent engagement, trust-building, and programming shaped by community input, we strive to create a home for radical imagination, cultural expression, and collective joy.

The 2026 Gala is the Bushwick Starr’s largest fundraising event of the year. The evening includes a lively dinner and cocktail hour by Chef JT Vuong of Rule of Thirds in Greenpoint, Brooklyn on Monday, October 26, 2026. The event has sold out the past two years and we hope you will join us for a truly out of this world experience: glitter, glam, and cosmic delights!

To express our gratitude for your support this evening, we invite you to an exclusive pre-sale opportunity of an advance ticket or sponsorship purchase. This incredible opportunity is valid through August 31, 2026. If you’d like to be included in our public announcement, the deadline for providing public acknowledgement details is September 1.

Please join us at The 2026 Bushwick Starr Gala as we continue to cultivate a place of welcome for all who wish to build community through stories, conversation, and art-making.

Sincerely,
Julia May Jonas + Michael Zegen
